Morden Town Centre
A programme of town centre regeneration and cultural activation designed to shift Morden from somewhere people passed through to a more attractive destination for residents, businesses and visitors. The project combined improvements to the retail environment with investment in the town centre's architectural character and new opportunities for cultural activity.
I commissioned and managed the design team and supporting services, working with businesses, landlords and residents to deliver improvements to retail premises, a new borough-wide shopfront design guide and significant conservation work to the Art Deco Morden Court Parade. The programme also transformed a vacant former HSBC bank into Crown House Creative — a flexible gallery, exhibition, performance and music space supporting emerging and established artists.
